Major Russian Strikes Cut Power Throughout Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern districts were left without electricity and encountered problems to drinking water, as stated by city officials.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and implementing penalties," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and over thirty missiles attacked energy facilities, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes damaged electrical systems and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to local officials.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor was killed and three other people were hurt.

The strikes succeed evenings of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by invading troops.

The entire country is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to detect.

National leaders told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the national power system, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating more assaults.
