PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the French league champions and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to seize a surprise advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
