It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the group.

Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
