Ukrainian Forces Launches Mass Production of Novel Interceptor Drones

Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to reinforce its aerial protection systems. Three initial manufacturers have started production, with 11 more preparing to set up production lines, the defence ministry announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created system known as “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated effective “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Assault on Kyiv Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and wicked” following six people lost their lives and many others wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Alert systems sounded in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

The president reported the nation was hit by 430 drones and multiple missiles. Those killed were inside their residences in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Dozens of additional structures sustained damage, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Objection After Diplomatic Compound Destruction

The Azerbaijani government announced it issued a strong protest to the Russian ambassador on Friday after the embassy damage. The blast from a Russian Iskander missile demolished part of the compound's boundary wall and caused serious damage to the diplomatic compound, officials from Baku reported. No one injured, and an official representative confirmed the diplomatic mission in Ukraine was maintaining operations.

Moscow's Glide Bomb Production Sees Significant Increase

Moscow intends to manufacture up to 120,000 glide bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official said, including 500 of a new, extended-range model that can reach additional urban centers. Russian forces were firing 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with the previous month's daily average being about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Kyiv's Attacks Focus on Moscow's Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended oil exports this past Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had launched domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of efforts to diminish the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and an energy depot in nearby Engels during the night.

Global Restrictions Impact Moscow's Oil Producer

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil said on Friday it is negotiating with interested parties concerning its international holdings following last month’s restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “Final arrangements will be announced once the final agreements are completed and required authorizations are secured,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Plans Diplomatic Trip to Spain

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, Madrid, next Tuesday to confer with lawmakers following his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from all houses of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement confirmed.
